The Third Time Is A Charm

Not that the first two trips to Salt Creek this year weren’t also delightful. But this one is our last camping trip until fall, and the bonus was we got to spend the weekend with Max and Murphy (and Buddy and Brittney too!). We had camped with them last year at this same campground and they had been in the spot down in the woods where we thought our trailer wouldn’t fit. Now that we’ve been down there twice we know we much prefer being off the bluff and down in the trees.

So we had the trailer backed in to the campspot and they set up a tent for Buddy and the boys and the dogs. Brittney was sleeping in the back of their pickup behind the trailer. All would have been well, but Max is still in school and picked up a bug. His fever spiked to over 100 on the way out of Sequim. That first night it dropped to a comfortable level, but the next morning went back up again and Britt had to take him home.

We still managed some nice walks, plenty of yummy food, and a roaring campfire for two nights. We got to sing Happy Birthday to Brittney and watch the boys learn to play badminton. We cooked burgers and dogs on Friday, and most excellent Pizza on Saturday. The weather was typical Pacific Northwet Junuary, some sprinkles, some sun, temps in the 50s. But when you know you’ll be gone until September and this is your only chance to camp with the kids, you take what you get. And really it was still very charming.
