We took an early winter trip after Christmas to Camano Island State Park and explored a few new to us spots in Western Washington, This is the park at the beach below the campgrounds that we took a walk down to.

The park was mostly empty and we found a nice spot on the upper loop with plenty of privacy and quiet.

The first day we took a walk down to the beach and I learned that duck feet are orange. I guess I’ve never seen a duck on a log before. It was a nice walk down and a long walk back up to the campsite.

We took a few road trips. One night we went to Chukanut Drive to the Oyster Bar Restaurant and met James for dinner. It was hands down a fabulous meal, and one worth returning to. We’ll have to find another campsite nearby to explore. We also spent a day exploring LaConner and made a quick trip to a marine hardware store in Anacortes.

On our last night we had a campfire. It was nearly 60 degrees that day and even after dark when the breeze stopped we were totally comfortable in a light fleece. It was a great way to cap off a nice relaxing time as the frenzy of the holiday season was winding down.
