Here is all the info you need for the family campout in Quilcene.
Date: May 30 -> June 1st. Although I’ll be there May 29th, so you’re welcome to come a day early if you want.
Here is the HipCamp info page: Hipcamp
Info from original Facebook post:
Rob and I visited Cedar + Fern yesterday and this is going to be a GREAT family campsite. Our host Jill is super friendly and has an amazing 12 acres with the Little Quilcene River bordering one edge. We will have access to the entire property that weekend, so bring along anyone you want to include. Rob & I will go earlier in the week and get all organized.
There are pix and a map in the files section. Note that there are leaves down in the pix and the campground wasn’t being used then so it needs a cleanup, but should be all spiffy by June.
The river isn’t at the edge of the campsites, it’s down a hill a bit. But there are little beaches and swimming holes. I’m thinking we should bring some floaties with lines attached to them. We’ll also likely have happy hour at the beach.
There are nice trails in the woods, so be sure to bring good hiking footwear. There are hammocks at each site, but we can bring more. Also will want to bring shelters in case it rains. And all the yard toys we want – there’s a big grassy spot we can set up croquet or badmitton or whatever we have.
There will be one porta potty onsite and one old outhouse in the woods. We will handle the cooking in Nonnie’s Diner again. So anyone that wants to rent a place to sleep warm doesn’t need a big RV with kitchen, just a little bed in a box should be good.
She has two dogs, and allows other dogs but asks to keep them leashed. She does have neighbors so we have to be respectful of her property lines and not bother the neighbors.
The driving directions to get there are tricky: IMPORTANT DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Please refer to these VERY helpful driving directions once you get close – GPS only gets you close. At the very bottom of this note are on site directions to find the property map, etc.
The address is 120 Fern Hollow Ln, Quilcene, WA 98376.
Once you have turned off Hwy 101 and onto Lords Lake Loop Rd, you will drive about 1/3 of a mile. Look for our neighbor’s sign “Zen River Retreat” on your left. The sign is on the corner of an unmarked dirt road. This dirt road is Fern Hollow Ln! FYI our property number 120 makes zero sense in relation to our neighbors who are all in the 280’s so don’t let that be confusing.
Take a left onto Fern Hollow Ln and drive straight ahead. You will pass one of the driveways to Zen River on your right – PLEASE DO NOT PULL INTO ZEN RIVER RETREAT! You will also pass another neighbors home on the left. Keep following the dirt road straight ahead past these neighbors and across the little wooden bridge over the river.
On the other side of the river, follow the road to the left of the round about which will loop you around to head up the hill. This is the only option of roadways without a gate or chain. Follow the hill up and our gate is at the top of the hill. Once through our gate, follow the onsite signs.
Oh, and road noise is NOT an issue, we’re high above 101. There is some traffic from the local road, but only 1 or 2 cars an hour.
This should be lots of fun!
Oh, and any suggestions for the menu, let me know in advance so I can provision and prep. I liked that all the food was ready and it was just assembly last year, so we’ll do that again.
