In 2024 we had our first family campout at Salt Creek and decided to regroup again this year on the weekend after Memorial Day. While we were in Alaska last summer I saw some really interesting looking group campsites, so focused on finding one of those for family this year.

Cedar + Fern is a HipCamp near Quilcene, bordered by the Little Big Quilcene River. It’s 12 acres and we rented the entire property for the weekend. Rob & I went in a day early to have time to take the kitties home to Bainbridge and get food prep done and the site set up.

Friday was a lovely day and we had walking tacos for lunch as everyone arrived and set up their campsites. Dot even came for lunch.

Amber, Sam and Hector staying warm in the morning chill.

Brittney pondering how to dognap Wanheda.

In the rain on Saturday we played Yard Farkle and Hector was the undisputed champion. I want a rematch next year.

All in all, rain and shine, it was a fun year of good food and drinks and much loved family time! Next year we’ll camp again, but now I’m looking for a park with some cabins, perhaps Dosewallips.
