When are we going:
Weekend after Memorial Day, May 29 to May 31, 2026.
Where are we going:

Dosewallips State Park – we had three requests for pet friendly cabins, and I found these in Dosewallips. It’s a huge park, super busy and popular, but I also found a little corner where I think we can create a space for us.

In the upper left corner is a little loop with a trailer site big enough for us, three pet friendly cabins, and some tent sites. If we book those cabins (C3-C5), 124 for the trailer, and 125-128 for tents, then we should have an area that where we can congregate for our group.

Booking Sites:
I booked the trailer and tent sites.
From Christine:
John and I booked the three pet friendly cabins. They are as follows:
C3 John
C4 Christine
C5 Leslie
Each cabin total is $183. Fully paid.
Each cabin rented for “2” people.
Notes (these are mostly for me because i may not remember this next year lol):
1. We did NOT yet register pets or cars. We wanted to confirm the reservations as quickly as possible. we can go back in and update later or do it at the park when we arrive. I believe it’s $15/pet and $10/car (per day?)
2. John and I set up two accounts. reservations are under the account names noted above with Leslie’s being under John’s acct. The system made him put another name on the reservation since he already reserved one.
3. Confirmation emails were sent to me and me and John.
Any questions? Otherwise, we’re good to go
What to do:
Alltrails shows 4 walks around the park and out to the canal, all in the easy category.

Clam and oyster harvesting on Hood Canal are sometimes available at Dosewallips. We have done it there with Bainbridge Parks and Rec. In 2025 clamming is closed but oysters are available with the right equipment and a license.

I think the walk out to the tide flats will be fun – there is a -1.25 low Saturday morning at 11:30. Here is the info from Fish & Wildlife if you are interested in trying your luck:

If we want delicious oysters, the Hamma Hamma Oyster Saloon has a restaurant where we can reserve a table for up to 6 and get 2 dozen oysters for $75 (or more for bigger groups). It’s about 70 minutes south on the canal, though, so maybe that’s for another day.
What will we eat:
Will work on this later
What should you bring:
I’ll bring all the stuff for meals – plates and cookware. You bring your personal camping stuff: Tent & bedding, shoes for hiking, head lamp, camp chairs, hammock (not sure about trees there), games, beverages for yourself.
