But wait, that looks nothing like Nonnie’s Diner. In fact, it is why we haven’t had any camping trips all year except the family campout, but we have been sleeping in Nonnie’s Diner 4 nights out of 7 for the last 7 months. We started out with a plan to reduce the maintenance on the boat by removing the teak decks, and went down a very long rabbit hole that conculded in a year long refit making her offshore ready for one last encore cruise.
We bounced around between RV parks for the year, first searching for monthly rates during high season, then moving to Port of Skagit when rates came down, then to Swinomish when rates went back up then back to Port of Skagit because they changed their mind about rates, then to Dosewallips for the weekend for the Family Campout, then back to Port of Skagit until they decided we timed out and had stayed too many nights, then to Bay View State Park during the week when we could get a spot, and back to La Conner on the weekends to sit in the parking lot while we were home. There might be one extra night we stayed at Port of Skagit that I’m missing in this list, but I’m too exhausted to figure it out.
Today Nonnie’s Diner went home on the Port Townsend ferry for the last time from our refit. Yohelah is on the dock in La Conner and will be back in Eagle Harbor in the coming weeks.
Last week was nine months until the next Family Campout, so we booked campsites and cabins at Dosewallips State Park.
